Batel Magen is a qualified Dance Movement Psychotherapist, with over 18 years experience in both private practice and working in the NHS. Batel focuses on body connection through a multi arts model, drawing on art, music and drama forms to enhance discovery, questioning and reflection.

Batel specializes in adolescent mental health within the NHS. Batel uses the humanistic person-centred framework drawing from other therapeutic modalities when required. Drawing from the person-centered framework, Batel believes that the client has all the inner resources within them to enable self recovery and self understanding to occur. 'It is that the individual has within himself or herself vast resources for self-understanding, for altering his or her self-concept, attitudes and self-directed behavior' (Rogers, 1980).

She is also a qualified lecturer (BA & MA level), and a qualified Creative Clinical Supervisor. As a Clinical Supervisor, Batel works with a variety of professionals and organisations including artists, therapists, charities and mental health nurses. As part of this role, Batel has been invited to be a mentor for students and to offer student placements.

Batel is a dance artist and choreographer alongside being a Dance Movement Psychotherapist. Her passion for dance and movement as an art informs her clinical work, recognising the power and strength that movement can have in and out of the therapy space. www.neshimadance.co.uk 

Batel attends regular CPD training to develop her professional and artistic practices. Training's include: Inpatient Adolescent Psychiatric Training, Poly Vagal theory, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (Level 2), Non Violence Resistance, Somatic Experiencing, safeguarding, contemporary dance technique, movement making, autism awareness, trauma informed practice, DBT and more.
